Dr. Ann Burnett was born in Colorado. She attended Colorado College for her Bachelor's degree in Economics, and the University of Northern Colorado for her Master's degree in Communication. She received her Ph.D. at the University of Utah, with a focus on jury decision-making. With the first year of law school under her belt from the University of Nebraska, Dr. Burnett continues her research in jury behavior and has started her own legal consulting business.
In addition to her interest in legal communication, Dr. Burnett also pursues research in interpersonal communication in terms of how our fast-paced lifestyles impact marital relationships. Currently half time in the Communication department, Dr. Burnett is also now the Director of Women's Studies at NDSU. Dr. Burnett resides in Moorhead with her spouse, Dr. Mark Meister (also of the Department of Communication), daughter Carolina (10th grader), her dog Nichols (named after St. Nick), and dog Paula (named after the late, great Paul Wellstone).
