Who
We Are
The mission of the North Dakota State Data Center (NDSDC) is to
provide objective socio-economic analysis and to support informed
decisions in areas of resource allocation, business management,
and public policy for people of North Dakota and beyond. The NDSDC
responds to requests, conducts research, compiles information,
and disseminates research findings to meet the demographic and economic
needs of North Dakota.
The North Dakota State Data Center (NDSDC) was established in 1981
by Executive Order of the Governor to serve as the state's official
source of population and socio-economic statistics. The NDSDC also
serves as the liaison to the Census Bureau and as the representative
to the Federal State Cooperative Programs for Population Estimates
and Projections.
The State Data Center Program is a national cooperative program
with the U.S. Census Bureau. Data Centers in each state assist the
Census Bureau by disseminating Census data and other federal data
sets and information.
Each Data Center has an internal statewide affiliate network to
further assist in disseminating data to local users. The NDSDC network
consists of a lead agency, three coordinating agencies, and 15 affiliates
located in 10 cities throughout North Dakota.
The NDSDC acts as the lead agency and is part of the Department
of Agribusiness and Applied Economics at North Dakota State University.
