The Studies:

There are five studies:

• Discovering the Uniqueness of Rural Communities, A New Perspective
• Discovering the Uniqueness of Rural Communities, Making A Difference
• The Rural Church in America, The Rural Church in Context
• The Rural Church in America, The Ministry of the Rural Church
• Rural Families in America

There is very little overlap among the studies. Each of the community studies requires about 18 hours of contact time. Each of the church studies requires about 21 hours of contact time and the family study requires about 24 hours of contact time. Each study is free standing, however in the community studies, A New Perspective should be completed before going on to Making a Difference. Learning is accomplished through a discovery approach where study participants use their life experiences along with information from readings and other sources to share and reflect on what is happening in their communities within the context of the individual studies.
