Forming a Group: Groups can be formed in any number of ways. They are often formed by local ministerial groups, denominational clusters, groups that get together to study the Lectionary, or local professional or civic leaders. Any group of 4-8 people who are interested in a better understanding of the community context where they live and work can come together to form a study group. Study groups are lead by a facilitator who helps organize the group and serves as a link between our office and the group. Facilitators help get the group going by arranging where and how often the group will meet, ordering study materials from our office, handling enrollment, and sending in final evaluation forms. The facilitators are expected to help guide the group through the study, for example, selecting articles the group should read before coming together to reflect on how their own experiences relate to the material. We stress, however, that the facilitators are not teachers, they participate in the learning process along with the rest of the study group. |
