Interdisciplinary Research (IR)

As Associate Vice President for Interdisciplinary Research, Dr. Greg McCarthy leads efforts aimed at accomplishing the following mission:

• Establishing and improving the infrastructure at NDSU necessary to compete for, and execute, major interdisciplinary research programs.
• Assisting with the development of interdepartmental, intercollege and inter-institutional research programs, groups, laboratories, consortia, centers, and institutes.
• Assisting the Vice President for Research, Creative Activities and Technology Transfer in strategic planning and outreach to external constituencies in areas of research and technology.

Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering:

• McCarthy is Director of the Center for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (CNSE), which focuses on interdisciplinary research and technology development of materials whose functional design starts at the atomic-molecular scale.

NDSU Centers and Institutes:

• The Centers and Institutes list includes official state-approved centers and institutes, which are recognized and approved by the North Dakota State Board of Higher Education or the ND State Legislature.
