Respiratory Care Internship

A Bachelor of Science degree, major in Respiratory Care, from North Dakota State University includes two-three years of course work at NDSU, a 15 month internship in the Respiratory Care Program at MeritCare Medical Center, and a 4 week clinical specialty rotation. The internship consists of lecture, lab, and clinical training which prepares the student to enter the profession.

Application to the internship occurs spring semester each year. Students who will have completed the prerequisites (first two years of curriculum) by the start of the internship experience are eligible to apply for one of twelve clinical internship positions available at MeritCare. Transfer students must complete a minimum of 20 resident credits at NDSU prior to the start of an internship. Applications are available from the RC advisor; deadline for submission is March 1. Admission to the internship is selective and based upon successful completion of all internship prerequisites, the student's grade point average, credits completed, career motivation, personal references, and an interview. An Admissions' Committee will make the selections.

Additional information is available from the RC advisor to assist you in applying to the internship.

Prospective students may schedule a visit by calling 1-800-488-NDSU.
