Jarmo Huuskonen, an active member of the Society, died on June 11 2005.
Jarmo graduated (M.Sci.Pharm.) in 1978 from the University of Helsinki,
Department of Pharmacy. In 1979-94 he served as  a staff pharmacist in
several private community pharmacies and as a pharmacy owner. In 1995 Jarmo
made a career change and started his Ph.D. studies in pharmaceutical
chemistry in the University of Helsinki. His research area was QSAR and QSPR
modeling, especially the methodology for prediction of physicochemical
properties. Jarmo's most influential work was devoted to the development of
methods for prediction of aqueous solubility, and had a marked impact on the
research in this field.
