Residence Life
Options
The Department of Residence Life supports students by providing a vibrant, healthy place to live and learn. There are many options for you to consider.
All freshman students are required to live on campus, (exceptions reviewed on a case-by-case basis.)
Although there is no deadline to secure campus housing for first-year students, hall assignment requests are honored on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date you return the contract with the $50 refundable room reservation fee. Roommate requests can be honored if your contract is received by January 1.
Students in ENGINEERING OR ARCHITECTURE can live in designated buildings and participate in special student and faculty events. These buildings feature exclusive computer clusters and structured study groups.
Students majoring in PHARMACY can live in a designated residence hall community and participate in college-sponsored programs and events. The programs are tailored to support academic success and provide career information to pre-pharmacy students.
THE WELLNESS COMMUNITY consists of a living environment in which students and staff are focused on all dimensions of wellness. The wellness floors are different from other floors in that they focus on overall wellness and health. In addition, students in this community sign a pledge agreeing to remain substance-free (alcohol, illegal drugs and tobacco) both on and off campus.
THE FIRST-YEAR EXPERIENCE (FYE) program in Weible and Reed-Johnson Halls is designed to provide support and opportunities for students to make a successful transition to NDSU. Students participate in academic and social activities conducted by Learning Teams consisting of resident assistants, peer mentors, tutors and faculty
To select one of these or other housing options, complete the Housing Contract included in the Undergraduate Application Packet or apply online at www.ndsu.edu/reslife. You may complete the housing contract at any time. (You do not need to be admitted to NDSU prior to applying for housing. All assignments are contingent upon final admission.)
Amenities found in residence halls include coinless laundry, study lounges, computer clusters, cable TV, daily newspapers and Internet access. Students with cars may purchase permits for designated lots in close proximity to their assigned halls.
NDSU's three dining centers are connected to or near all the residence halls. Meal plan options include 10, 15 or 20 meals a week.
Each dining center features at least two meal options, a salad bar and sandwich bar. Off-campus students also may purchase a meal plan.
