SECTION 222: NEW BROADBANDED STAFF PROBATIONARY PERIOD

- New broadbanded employees are in a probationary status for the first six
months of University service, which may be extended for cause. During such
period, the employee may be terminated with one week's notice with no right
to appeal. One week's pay may be given in lieu of notice. Employees who elect
to resign during the probationary period are required to give one week's notice.
- Extension of the original probationary period for a specific period of time
not to exceed six months may be recommended by the supervisor or department
head to the Director of Human Resources/Payroll. The reasons for extension
shall be detailed on a completed employee evaluation form signed by the supervisor
and the employee, with a copy given to the employee.
