Berlin D. Nelson

Dr. Berlin Nelson received his Ph.D. in 1979 from Washington State University. Dr. Nelson's interests include diseases of oilseed crops, especially soybean, and the biology of fungi. His work at NDSU has included diseases such as root rots caused by Phytophthora, Fusarium and Rhizoctonia and the control of Sclerotinia. He currently has a large program on the biology and control of Soybean Cyst Nematode. He maintains a cooperative program with the soybean breeder to develop soybean cultures resistant to important diseases. He has further expertise in indoor molds. Dr. Nelson is assisted in his project by his technician, Tracy Christiansen. Dr. Nelson teaches a course in field crop diseases.
