Professional Services
Extenstion plant pathologists have major outreach components. They help growers apply research results in controlling plant diseases. They are also involved in large adult training programs.
The Plant Diagnostic Laboratory identified plant diseases and other plant health problems for over 900 farmers and urban growers. The Seed Health Testing Unit has a similar application.
Research plant pathologists have smaller outreach components, but they still have service obligations to their commodity, profession and the University. Faculty are active in organizations at the local, regional, national and international level. They attend field days to explain results to the farmers and to answer questions.
Seminars are held regularly to keep students and faculty up-to-date with new research.
Publications are produced regularly on findings relevant to the department. |
