Computers are extensively used in statistics
instruction, and statistical software packages and programs are
utilized in various courses. Data analysis is an important aspect
in applied statistics courses, and the department provides opportunities
to study both applied and theoretical aspects of statistics. 
The computer facilities within the department are excellent. The
University runs several UNIX-based host systems on different platforms.
The
campus has several clusters of PC's and Mac's connected to the campus
network and the Internet. SAS, SPSS, Minitab, and IMSL are among
the statistical packages available. The University also has access
to the Internet. Computer consultants are available to assist students
if programming help is needed.
