Dmitry Musolin
Kyoto University
Kyoto, Japan

I was born and educated in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I have two M.Sc. degrees: from Saint Petersburg State Forest Technical Academy (in Forestry/Forest Entomology) and from Central European University, Budapest, Hungary (in Environmental Sciences and Policy). I earned my Ph.D. degree at Saint Petersburg State University (in Entomology, 1997, Seasonal Cycles of Heteroptera: Diversity and Environmental Control). For the following few years, I did three postdoctoral projects: first in the laboratory of Prof. H. Numata, Osaka City University, Osaka, Japan, 1998-2000 (eco-physiology of diapause and overwintering and range expansion of Nezara viridula) and second in the laboratory of Dr. K. Ito, National Agricultural Research Center for Hokkaido Region, Sapporo, Japan, 2001-2005 (eco-physiology of diapause of predatory anthocorid bugs), and currently I am working in the laboratory of Prof. K. Fujisaki, Kyoto University, Kyoto, Japan (response of Nezara viridula to simulated global warming).

I am interested in the seasonal ecology of Heteroptera. The primary focus of my experimental research is photoperiodic control of diapause and other seasonal adaptations. My interest covers different seasonal phenomena in Heteroptera: environmental control of seasonal development, diapause (induction, maintenance, termination), ecology of overwintering, polymorphism/polyphenism, migrations, voltinism, seasonal cycles, life histories, etc.  My research in Osaka and Kyoto showed that Nezara viridula responds to climate warming by expanding its distribution range (Musolin & Numata, 2003a, b, 2004, 2007) and this finding promoted my interest in response of Heteroptera to climate change.

Actually, now I am looking for job. Please let me know if you have anything to offer or advise. I will be happy to send you my CV and full Publication list (including non-Pentatomoidea papers) upon email request.
