Obituaries:

Sir Richard Southwood: Born June 20, 1931; died October 26, 2005. British heteropterist, ecologist, and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Oxford, best known for his early work on Heteroptera and the co-authored book "Land and Water Bugs of the British Isles," and later for his ecological and environmental focus. Dr. Nils Møller Andersen: Born November 21, 1940; died May 12, 2004 Danish heteropterist, Zoological Museum, University of Copenhagen, well known for his research on Gerridae and other Gerromorpha, and his benchmark book, "The Semiaquatic Bugs." See "Past Workers" under "Photo Gallery" for photograph and citation of obituary, and "Upcoming Meeting Information" for information on the Nils Møller Andersen Award.

Richard C. Froeschner: Born March 8, 1916; died May 2, 2002. American heteropterist, Smithsonian Institution, Washington, D.C., best known for his work on the systematics of Cydnidae, Tingidae, and important catalogs. See "Past Workers" under "Photo Gallery" for photograph and citation of obituary.

Halbert M. Harris: Born July 18, 1900; died August 18, 2000. American heteropterist, Iowa State University, best known for his work on the systematics of Berytidae and Nabidae. See "Past Workers" under "Photo Gallery" for photograph and citation of obituary.

Antti Jansson: Born 1940; died July 16, 2002. Finnish heteropterist, Zoological Museum, University of Helsinki, best known for his work on the systematics of Corixidae. See "Past Workers" under "Photo Gallery" for photograph and citation of obituary.


Per Lindskog: Born November 22, 1939; died March 1, 1998. Swedish heteropterist, Swedish Museum of Natural History, Stockholm, best known for his work on ecology and systematics of Leptopodomorpha. See "Past Workers" under "Photo Gallery" for photograph and citation of obituary.

Vasiliy Georgievich Putshkov: Born November 8, 1909; died December 25, 1995. Russian heteropterist, Institute of Zoology, Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, best known for his Fauna Ukrainy studies, monographs on the Pentatomoidea and Rhopalidae, and book on injurious mirids and a world catalog of the Reduviidae (with P.V.
