Forest Stewardship Tax Law

The Forest Stewardship Tax Law offers tax incentives to landowners for preserving and protecting forest resources. The program reduces property taxes to a flat payment of $0.50 per acre per year on eligible lands.

Eligibility requires that the landowner must own a minimum of :

• 10 acres of contiguous native woodland, or

• 5 acres of contiguous planted trees (minimum of 60 feet in width), or

• 10 acres of combined native and planted contiguous woodlands

Counties Presently Participating:

Pembina, Walsh, Grand Forks, Cavalier, Wells, Benson, Ramsey and Nelson.
