Red River Basin Riparian Project

Many of North Dakota's riparian forests have been degraded due to a variety of activities, both natural and human caused. Higher water levels, land clearing, uncontrolled grazing and exotic diseases have all had a hand in damaging the riparian forests. The North Dakota Forest Service places a high emphasis on these woodlands and has a variety of practices that can be implemented to restore riparian forests to a healthy, productive condition.

The Red River Basin Riparian Project is an EPA 319 funded project that offers cost-share assistance to property owners in the Red River Basin. Some of the activities that can be funded are bank reshaping, vegetative bank stabilization practices, tree planting and forest stand improvement.
