Hi!  Who am I?  My name is Michael Klemen.  To give you a little background (that really doesn't matter to me), I have a joint undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science (ABME).  I have been doing data acquisition since 1991.  What you will encounter on these pages is NOT data from the manufacturers unless it is specifically stated that way.  It is data that I have acquired from real-life installations of alternative energy systems.  Unless it is stated that it has been reduced according to standards, it is just the real data I have acquired.  Normally, standard measurements must be adjusted to standard conditions.  I would like to add this capability as finances allow.  The data acquisition and reduction software are my own.

This is the real performance of real turbines.  It isn't the glitz and glamor that manufacturers might want to present.  This site tells you what works, what doesn't, what went wrong, and how badly things can go wrong.

Attached to this page are links to my editorial comments (comments I've had on AWH or other interesting posts), an explanation of my Effective Rayleigh Velocity, and how Wind can be "Firmed" as an energy resource.

I wrote an article on data acquisition for Home Power Magazine, issue #62.  (506kB, PDF format)

I presented at the Midwest Renewable Energy Fair in 2002.  My presentation is here.  (524kB, PDF format)
