The comp theory class is done for the semester (Spring 2003), but team, feel free to contribute, and visitors, feel free to leave us a message. Some completely different students, and a different instructor, will likely inhabit this space (or one like it) again in two years (Spring 2005). Comment

Kevin, that article and letters to the ed that you sent us were really interesting! I especially liked the professor that compared teaching composition to teaching sciences. And I really like the argument in which the idea of freshman level art classes not producing great artists was compared to composition. That's a terrific argument and one that I think should be circulated a lot more...

Any class that can digress to breast feeding, lesbian drunk strippers, and Dr. S (S for all the "S"s in Assessment) has got my vote for the best class about nothing. Oh wait, it was about theory! I knew I was learning something.

P.S. I will read (and not complain about it anymore) Sherri Gradin's book about Social Expressivism. {Laura- I just put in an interlibrary loan request today.}

Josh, and anyone else who might be interested in genre--I have blogged the McLuhan connection over on one of my other writing spaces. I like the way McLuhan thinks about literature (this might be for Marcia) -- he always talks about how literature can help us probe the environment out of which the writing emerged, or probe our own environment. In other words, literature is a way of looking at the world, rather than an object to be looked at. Or as Burke would say, "equipment for living."

Sybil, your blog was like reading a great novel--I laughed, I cried, I pondered, I blogged--Plus I agree with you about all those things.

Disappointment: A Call To Write doesn't have WEBLOGS listed. Ugh. Sounds like a tweaking I'll do on my own.
Surprise: Codi is not only person concerned with a beer final.... or volleyball final. Hmph. !Muy interesante!
Excitement: This final might be something I can pass. :-) (with flying colors even?)
Confusion: We are HAVING a final? *scratches head*
Clarification: Any bar that only serves beer is suspicious to me.
Impressed: According to feedback, looks like we did well in our workshop. Wish we could have had more people attend, however.

There's an alternate format for the final inside L2, no sporting experience necessary. It does not involve a pit of any sort, though perhaps a pitcher....
