Tasks for today.

You have two general options for posting your review online:

  1. Post your review to Amazon.com, some other commercial website, or a music site that lets readers post reviews.

OR

  1. Start a personal weblog and post your review to that blog.  Just follow the simple directions at Blogger.com for starting a new weblog.

Once you have posted your review to an online site, make a link on the class weblog to your post.  In the class weblog, give us a little teaser.  For example, you could say, "Please read my review of David Byrne's CD: if you like quirky, you will love Byrne."  Or, you could just copy and paste your first sentence or two from the review and then make a link that says "Read More."  Links can be inserted like this  < a href = "http://urlyouwanttolinkto"> Read More </a>

Please read each others' reviews and give feedback — preferably via the class weblog, but you can use email or IM if you want to give one-to-one feedback. I hope our weblog can start to support more conversation and more informal exchange of ideas, rather than being just an electronic bulletin board. Using the weblog is one way to enhance your class participation grade.

If you finish these tasks quickly, you can look online for a longer, more developed review to bring as a sample to class on Monday. See below.

Monday, September 15

Bring a copy of a review from a magazine or website of your choice.  This review should be longer than a commercial review; it should be informative, cover more than just the issue of whether to buy or not buy the CD.  Be sure to read the sample reviews in Call to Write, and be sure to bring the textbook to class.
