Dayna--M/eating (yuck, yuck) at your house sounds good to me. Your link to the
website worked fine--I could get the article but not the homepage. How did you
find that site? I tried to link to the homepage but I cannot--is it because
I am at a remote computer? Are you accessing from home? Why can't I? I have
a headache!
On Monday, I would like to discuss Kirsch's reservations about multi-vocal texts--specifically "readability, accessibility, and interpretation." Is she articulating the inititial reactions we had when we first read Spooner and Yancey? How can we address these concerns in our own MVE? Be ready to discuss or email me some of your "ah-ha!" passages from the text--positive and/or negative reactions.
How does the Moran essay cast light on Kirsch's discussion? Draw some comparisons/contrasts.
How does the Kirsch essay connect to Jeff Smith's thoughts on gatekeeping, if at all? Is he taking her ideas to an extreme or is he discussing an unrelated issue? Is he on the same wavelength as the John Leo and Tracy Lee Simmons articles? How would we justify our MVE to John Leo and Tracy Lee Simmons if they visited our class? What do you three think we need to discuss?
Mary
