October 4, 2002: In-class activities.
- Make sure you have a copy of the reading for Monday, "A New Communication
Order" by Ilana Snyder. It can be found via Infotrac; search for "New
Communication Order" or "Snyder, I."
- Read the guide
for this essay. Notice that this time, two groups will be responsible
for reading the same parts of the essay. I don't expect you to meet
over the weekend—I'll give you time in class to talk about your sections.
- Please enroll in the course's Blackboard Web site if you haven't already.
To enroll, go to the NDSU Blackboard Entry
Page , login, search for the course under "English," click "enroll"
and you should be in.
- Have someone in your group post your answers to the questions I posed
about "Reinventing Adolescent Literacy." You can post in the group
weblog, a personal weblog, or on the course discussion board—just let us
know where to go!
- Read what other groups have to say about their section of the essay, and
then post a comment on the Blackboard Discussion Board. You will see
more specific directions when you get there.
- If at any time you find yourself without a specific task, take a look
at the list of keywords
for this unit and begin researching the aspect(s) of new literacy that interest
you most.
