October 4, 2002: In-class activities.

  1. Make sure you have a copy of the reading for Monday, "A New Communication Order" by Ilana Snyder.  It can be found via Infotrac; search for "New Communication Order" or "Snyder, I."
  2. Read the guide for this essay.  Notice that this time, two groups will be responsible for reading the same parts of the essay.  I don't expect you to meet over the weekend—I'll give you time in class to talk about your sections.
  1. Please enroll in the course's Blackboard Web site if you haven't already.  To enroll, go to the NDSU  Blackboard Entry Page , login, search for the course under "English,"  click "enroll" and you should be in.
  1. Have someone in your group post your answers to the questions I posed about "Reinventing Adolescent Literacy."  You can post in the group weblog, a personal weblog, or on the course discussion board—just let us know where to go!
  1. Read what other groups have to say about their section of the essay, and then post a comment on the Blackboard Discussion Board.  You will see more specific directions when you get there.
  1. If at any time you find yourself without a specific task, take a look at the list of keywords for this unit and begin researching the aspect(s) of new literacy that interest you most.
