NDSU ITS provides a facility to automate the use of E-mail mailing
lists for NDUS Faculty, Staff, and Students. We have used the LISTSERV®
software from L-Soft International, Inc.
for over ten years. Our primary focus is on providing lists for University
System consituents but we also provide some services to outside list owners
in a few strategic niches as explained in our current
policy. Information on the

LISTSERV server is now available online.
Each list is defined by a name and set of parameters which are used to tailor the list to its intended use. For well defined groups such as committees, classes, or departments, the brief list of parameters is usually sufficient to define the list. For public lists the more comprehensive list of common parameters might be useful in defining the list.
Please note that the correct term for a list is an "e-mail list". Not only is LISTSERV® a registered trademark but using that to refer to a list can cause a great deal of confusion in distinguishing the list from the LISTSERV server itself.
