Recently, Microsoft announced a security flaw discovered in their remote procedure call (RPC) messaging services in Windows NT based machines. This particular flaw can allow a hacker to connect to a computer from across the internet and take control of it. This is a very serious flaw that needs to be patched immediately. In Recent months, we have seen an increasing number of computers that are being broken into and compromised. These compromised machines are usually controlled remotely by someone that wishes to use them for either a file server or for doing coordinated attacks against a computer or network.

Responding to this problem is not a good answer. By the time we respond, the computers sytems in question and their data are already in jeopardy. It also takes extremely large amounts of time to clean and completely clear any intrusion remnants from the system.
