The EM Center is associated with the Department of Plant Pathology.  We assist research scientists and students who need ultrastructural data, and support research programs and teaching efforts from disciplines including the following:

  • biological sciences
  • plant pathology
  • plant science
  • entomology
  • veterinary science and microbiology
  • pharmaceutical sciences
  • coatings and polymeric materials
  • civil engineering
  • industrial manufacturing engineering
  • mechanical engineering
  • nanoscale science and engineering
  • materials science
  • chemistry and molecular biology.

As a service facility, the EM Center provides comprehensive microscopy services to researchers and students all the way from initial concept to publishable photographs.  Experienced scientists enjoy open use of the electron microscopes and ancillary equipment without the time demands and frustrations of routine upkeep and maintenance.  Those less familiar with specific techniques of electron microscopy benefit from the skilled technical assistance available.
