Meta Function Assessment Data
(Fully Tabbed Data)
The data below represent responses from imaginary individuals to a questionairre designed to ascertain individual meta function capabilities (after Julian May's Pleistocene Exile series). The "codebook" below tells us that there are 6 lines of raw data per individual (this may not be apparent depending on whether some of the "lines" of original data are wrapping on your browser) and lists the information available on each line. Write a SAS program to read these data. In addition, create new variables for each subscale which are simply the sum of the individual subscale items for each person. Each of the subscale items has a range of values from 0 to 6. Solitary periods indicate missing values. Please note that these data are fully tab delimited. You may have to use Save As from Netscape and then specify Source as the format for the file in order to preserve the tabs in the data file when transferring it.
