1. Minutes
- The minutes for the September 15
meeting of CITPG were approved.
2. ITS
Update
The cluster in Churchill will probably reopen in its current space.
3. SPSS
Licenses
Jim Ross reported that ITS has complete billing records since the SPSS license changed to a perpetual license in 2000, for all new licenses and all upgrades. We have issued all 500 licenses -- the perpetual license is capped at 500 total copies.
4. Networking
Subcommittee Report on Wireless
The Networking Subcommittee
presented a report on wireless networking on the NDSU campus. The report originated from the discussion
generated at the open forum that was held on January 29 and from follow up
meeting with John Grosen from ITS. The
report is available at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/cpg/reports/subreports/wlan-report1.htm. Jim Ross also announced that ITS is
submitting two proposals to the Technology Fee Advisory Committee in the Fall
of 2003: one relates to Wireless Networking Pilot Projects and the second
focuses on a communications plan to keep students informed on Risk Management
and Security issues. Response to the
subcommittee report was positive. CITPG
feels that the campus needs to aggressively explore the uses and development of
wireless networking. A suggestion was
made to form a campus wide steering committee to coordinate wireless network
development, we will continue to discuss this at next week’s meeting.
Meeting adjourned at 2:55 p.m.
