Meeting Minutes

Present: Egeberg, Grosen, J. Kapaun, S. Kapaun, Kloberdanz,
Latimer, Pikalek, Ross, Saini-Eidukat, Schlecht, Tareski, and Wittrock
- Minutes - The minutes
for the March
24 meeting of CITPG were approved.
- ITS Update
- There is a paper
entitled “Computer and Network Security and Higher Education's Core Values”
available on the Educause site. http://www.educause.edu/ecar/
- The Novell migration
is continuing. Elizabeth Smith
has been assigned to take over project management for the migration. IT counselors in individual
departments will help lead the process.
- There has been an
exponential increase in Spam, which is causing an increased
workload. An optional filtering
device was introduced several months ago and users have been
satisfied. CITPG has been asked
to discuss whether this should be implemented on a global basis. We will add it to the agenda for a

- ITS is receiving
weekly notices of security vulnerabilities and is looking for a mechanism
to communicate this information to this campus. We will also discuss this issue at a future meeting,
- Cluster Software Upgrades
- The Cluster Technology
Subcommittee presented a list of cluster software upgrades for the Fall
2003 academic term. The committee
voted to circulate this list to the university community.
- Desktop Standards
- The desktop standards
taskforce circulated a new draft of the baseline standards, it can be
found at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/latimer/desktop. There will be open forums held on
April 7 and April 10 at 9:00 a.m. in the Century Theater.
