  1. Minutes - The minutes for the February 24 meeting of CITPG were approved.

  1. ITS Update
    1. Kaludis has been chosen as the consultant that will help draft a business continuity plan for ITS services at NDSU.  They will start working on March 4; their work will include meetings with the President’s cabinet and the vice-presidents among other campus groups.
    2. The firstname_lastname email forwarding is scheduled to stop at the end of this semester.  Messages sent to these addresses will continue to be monitored and those that appear to originate from reputable sources will result in an updated address being sent to the sender.
    3. A report detailing the viruses caught by the email virus filter in January and February was circulated.  The total number of viruses detected dropped 6537 in January to 4589 in February.
    4. The migration from SilkyMail to Squirrelmail is likely to occur soon.  To try out Squirrelmail go to: http://webmail.ndsu.nodak.edu/ and follow the link at the bottom.

  1. Cluster Use Policy
    1. The Cluster subcommittee presented a Cluster Use Policy that would include provisions for cluster use by individuals not directly affiliated with NDSU (for full text see Agenda).  The intent of this policy is to formalize current use of the clusters, not to change cluster use or configuration.  Questions were raised regarding whether there were any legal issues related to software licensing.  The policy will be brought forward at the next CITPG meeting if the licensing questions have been adequately addressed.

  1. Peer-to-Peer Policy
    1. Discussed a proposed policy banning the use of P2P applications (for full text see Agenda).  It was suggested that the policy really intended to limit the use of all applications that used excessive bandwidth, not just P2P applications, therefore the policy should be renamed “Bandwidth Abuse Policy.”  It was also suggested that the policy should ban personal use of these applications.  R. Kloberdanz will rewrite the policy to incorporate the CITPG suggestions, the rewritten version will be considered at our next meeting.

Meeting adjourned at 3:12 p.m.
