CITPG Meeting Minutes

January 27, 2003, 2 p.m. Minard Hall, Room 116-D

Present: Barnhart, Egeberg, Grosen, Juell, J. Kapaun, S. Kapaun, Klenow, Kloberdanz, Latimer, Pikalek, Saini-Eidukat, Schlecht, Schroeder, Tareski, and Wittrock

  1. Minutes - The minutes for the December 16 meeting of CITPG were approved.

 

  1. ITS Update

a.              A virus/worm was responsible for a loss of internet availability for the campus on the morning of Saturday, January 25.  Service was restored around 11:30am.  ITS will work to identify any campus machines that might still be vulnerable.

b.              The bandwidth issue continues to be a concern.  ITS is going to form a committee to address bandwidth concerns.  We have been asked to discuss bandwidth issues and to start to develop a means of determining service priorities.  This issue has been referred to the Networking subcommittee.

  1. Videoconferencing Users Group Report
    1. The current draft of the executive summary of the report is available at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/instruct/ross/plans/ToVPPA_FromVCUG.htm and the full report is available at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/instruct/ross/plans/VCUG_01-18-2003_final.pdf.  Comments are welcome.  The User Group is going to develop an action plan for addressing short-term videoconferencing issues as the final component of the report.

 

  1. Wireless Open Forum

The wireless open forum will take place on Wednesday, January 29 at 9:00am in the Peace Garden Room of the Memorial Union.

  1. Subcommittee Updates
    1. Classroom Subcommittee – The classroom subcommittee is currently working on compiling the results of the survey that was circulated in December.  A question was raised about availability of technology carts, are additional carts available when the local cart is previously reserved?  We discussed issues related to this concern.
