a. Grade Loading Instructions for Faculty. Instructions for loading grades into CICS are available online: A link to "Steps to Successful, Stress-Free Grade Loading" may be found on the ITS website.
b. Set-up Service No Longer Offered. Due to the tremendous increase in demands for Classroom Technology, ITS can no longer provide the multimedia equipment set-up service for classes. Currently each multimedia cart includes an LCD projector, computer and VCR. Once the cart is retrieved from the storage closet and plugged into the wall, all of the equipment is connected and ready for use. More information may be found on the ITS website.
c. Sandy Sprafka is welcoming suggestions for the next IT NEWSFLASH. Her goal is to have an issue in everyone's hands when Spring Semester begins, Tuesday, Jan. 14. To accommodate Christmas vacations, please have your suggestions to Sandy by Friday. We decided that an announcement about the Wireless Open Forum should go into the newsletter.
d. The disk storage allocated for the NDSU webserver is 92% consumed. Of Forty-nine gigabites, we have 3.8 gigs free. We discussed the possibility of quotas. Decided to refer the issue to the Internet Users Subcommittee. The subcommittee will collect information about current storage use and recommend a policy for future use.
e. There is no exact count of the effectiveness of the virus filtering program that has been activated, ITS is looking for some report capability. There have been no reports of the KLEZ virus since it was activated, so at least one problem virus has been reduced.
f. Desktop support for MAC users does still exist.
The open forum was well attended and there were many good comments. Sandy Sprafka is preparing a summary of comments, we will circulate it when it is ready. There will probably be additional specific topic forums that will follow this event.
Jim Ross presented a shortened version of the draft report from the Videoconferencing Users Group. A copy of the report can be found at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/instruct/ross/plans/. The group is in the process of completing an executive summary of the report. It will be circulated to CITPG members when a draft is complete. Please send comments about the full report and the executive summary to Jim Ross or Dave Wittrock.
Meeting adjourned at 3:07 p.m.
