  1. ITS Update
    1. Formmail has been reconfigured and reactivated.  It has been implemented in a more secure form, so there are some minor changes.  Documentation  is being prepared to explain the changes.

    3. Virus scanning and spam filtering.  The HECN is experimenting with products to filter spam, DSU is currently using a product.  Virus filtering software is also potentially available; this product would be enacted globally.  The product checks for a virus and if one is detected the message is bounced back to the sender, without notifying the intended recipient.  CITPG voted to approve this plan and the issue will be taken the Executive Committee of the University Senate.  A copy of the report can be found at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/ndsu/cpg/reports/subreports/virusstatement.htm
    4. John Loether, a senior consultant with Hewlett-Packard will be on campus to give a presentation entitled “Future Technology Trends” on October 28.  This presentation will be cosponsored by ITS, Ag/Comm, and CITPG.  Our October 28 meeting will consist of our attendance at this presentation.
