  1. Minutes - The minutes for the October 7 meeting of CITPG were approved.

  1. ITS Update
    1. The HECN Report and the NDSU Campus Report have both been posted to the CITPG list.
    2. On Friday October 11 the bandwidth quota in the residence halls was reduced from 600 to 480 megabytes per day.  This was in consultation with Residence Life and was necessary because NDSU has been exceeding its campus wide bandwidth quota.  This reduction was not sufficient and the residence halls personal bandwidth quota was further reduced to 400 megabytes per day.  ITS will continue to monitor the situation.
    3. Wireless access points have been showing up on campus and have caused some disruption of network services.  ITS will hold a campus forum to discuss the use of wireless on campus; CITPG will be a cosponsor.  This issue will also be addressed in the Networking Subcommittee.
    4. John Loether, a senior consultant with Hewlett-Packard will be on campus to give a presentation entitled “Future Technology Trends” on October 28.  This presentation will be cosponsored by ITS, Ag/Comm, and CITPG.  Our October 28 meeting will consist of our attendance at this presentation.
    5. Tom Moen from Microsoft will present two informative sessions on Microsoft Exchange.  Exchange provides email and calendaring capabilities.  The sessions are on Friday, Oct. 25, IACC 422 from 10:30 - 12:00 or from 1:00 - 2:30 pm.  This presentation will be cosponsored by ITS, Ag/Comm, and CITPG.
    6. The October 4 edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education had an article entitled “10 Ways to Cut Costs of Information Technology.”  R. Kloberdanz reports that NDSU has either begun implementation or is considering the options listed in the article.
