  1. Minutes - The minutes for the May 6 and June 26 meetings of CITPG were approved

  1. ITS Update
    1. ITS is facing budget pressures, during the current academic year they will be looking to CITPG for input in prioritizing services for campus IT needs.
    2. Because of special software needs the Fine Arts computer cluster was configured in a different manner than other campus clusters.  The main effect of this different configuration was that authentication procedures that are present in campus clusters are not available on the MAC OS in the Fine Arts cluster.
    3. SOD cluster update.  ITS met with the CITPG representatives and the decision was to leave the SOD cluster intact for the time being.  Both Computer Science and ITS have space problem in the IACC building.  Space continues to be an issue for the Technology Learning Center cluster.  ITS and Computer Science agreed that this should be looked at by the campus facilities committee.  ITS continues to look at the feasibility of hosting a server for Unix services.

  1. Desktop Standards

The establishment of desktop standards remains a priority for campus administrators.  No progress has been made since the June meeting, but this item will be an important agenda item for the coming months.

  1. Ag Comm/ITS meetings with departments and academic units.

A draft report of the results of the meeting the AgComm/ITS representatives had with academic departments and units has been prepared.  The complete summary can be found at: http://www.ndsu.nodak.edu/instruct/swandal/AGEC375f/departme.htm.  A two-page summary was circulated at the CITPG meeting.

  1. WAN funding.

The projections that were presented at the April 26, 2002 meeting suggested that NDSU might exceed its quota during this academic year.  CITPG will need to develop priorities for bandwidth usage in order to be prepared for this event.

  1. Email lists for courses

When instructors request email lists for the courses they are now being provided with the “official” campus email address for students.  However, many incoming students have not activated their accounts and are still using personal email addresses, so there is no easy way of communicating with these students.  R. Kloberdanz will talk to ITS personnel involved in orientation and CITPG will work toward finding a solution for this issue.

Meeting adjourned at 3:21.
