Information Technology (IT) Priorities

 

#1 Maintenance and Base

NDSU Strategic plan assumes IT base level of funding.

 

Goal = maintain base funding at all levels. 

This does not prevent reallocation within the base.

 

#2 Upgrade / Enhancements

NDSU Strategic plan - Examine current programs for adequacy in (IT) resources and (IT) infrastructure.  Priority Level: Highest (Sj).

 

Goal = Given base, and potential reallocations within the base, determine where NDSU’s current IT resources and infrastructure fall short of current expectations.

 

IT Initiatives:

#3 Work to increase federal and private research funding.  Priority Level: Highest (Sg).   Including:

 

Provide resources and improve research infrastructure to increase competitiveness for merit-based peer-reviewed research grants.  Priority Level: Highest (Sa).

 

Advance the research mission of the university by identifying new opportunities through federal government initiatives.  Priority Level: Very High (Sc).

 

#4 Expand doctoral programs in areas of strength.  Priority Level: Highest (Si).

 

#5 Provide real world research and educational opportunities for NDSU faculty and students.  Priority Level: Very High (Sf).  Including:

 

Improve the student learning experience including enhancing undergraduate research opportunities, incorporating experiential learning into academic programs, exposing students to advances in technology.  Priority Level: High (Sd).

 

#6 ERP – Enterprise Resource Planning  - all North Dakota University System campuses (Cf).  Include NDSU expenses related to the ERP: Salaries (to backfill project managers), Software, Training, and Equipment.

 

         Department of Transportation site (Cd).

 

#7 Collaborate and Cooperate (HECN, IVN (Cg), ODIN will be addressed within the NDUS IT Plan)

 

Within NDSU:

                  Agriculture – Research Stations and Extension

                  Forest Service

                  Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute

                 

Within the NDUS:

Access the Future - online clearinghouse of distance education offerings from all NDUS campuses (Ca).

 

Agriculture courses – with Dickinson State University (Cb).

 

Continuing Education offers both graduate and undergraduate courses for credit, which benefit other NDUS campuses (Cc).

 

         EPSCOR – a NDUS program (Ce).

 

Nursing courses – with North Dakota State College of Science (Ch).

 

ROTC program – with University of North Dakota (Ci).

 

Teacher training courses – with University of North Dakota and Valley City State University (Cj).

 

Telecommunications facilities – provide services to other NDUS institutions (Ck).

 

Agriculture articulation agreements – with all NDUS campuses (Cl).

 

Engineering – the Bismarck State College (Cm).

 

History courses– with University of North Dakota (Cn).

        

         With the State of North Dakota:

 

                  Division of Independent Study

 

                  Northern Crops Institute

 

With Others:

Federal Agencies located on the NDSU campus.

 

City of Fargo.
