Memo: Group Evaluation

Sometime this week, please submit to me, via e-mail, an informal memo describing and evaluating your group’s interactions as you completed this project. Be sure to include each group member’s name (including your own), the letter grade you would give them for their input, participation and interaction in the group, and a one or two sentence rationale for the grade you have given. Please keep in mind that you are not grading the products you produced–the executive summary, the proposal, or the presentation. Those will each be graded by me (and in the case or the oral presentation, your peers). You are only grading how each group member worked to make those projects successful (or not!).

Here are some things you will want to consider: Did the group member

  • make every effort to attend all possible group meetings?
  • make every effort to maintain contact with group members?
  • ask good questions that moved the group’s work and thinking forward?
  • offer specific skills (writing, page design, software abilities, thinking strategies, group working strategies) to help the rest of the group?
  • put in time and effort equal to, lesser, or greater than other group members?
  • come prepared with materials at the time and place s/he promised them?
  • offer other skils that helped the group succeed: leadership, mediation, ideas, energy, food?

This memo is required, but will not be graded. All responses will be confidential, though I will summarize comments for each person (not from each person) as a form of feedback to help you think about ways you can develop your group skills and enhance your future performance.
