These sources provide possibilities for a variety of sort of assessments that can help you assess student learning (and your own teaching) in your classes. Such data are especially useful when you are attempting to employ a new course design (such as an experimental course) or pedagogical practice (such as PBL) and hope to be able to talk about the effectiveness of your new strategy.
