WHAT KIND OF ENGLISH THEY LIKE TO HAVE THEIR EMPLOYEES TO HAVE 3. WHAT ROLE ENGLISH HAS IN DETERMINING HOW QUALIFIED AN APPLICANT IS 4. IF THEY DO MUCH GROUP WORK, OR IF IT IS ALL INDIVIDUAL 5. ESPECIALLY WRITING AND CRITICAL THINKING Some people think of literature, reading the classics, as english. So you'll want to b e sure to say specific skills--like writing technical reports, prepapring building specs, writing grants, presenting work to peers. {#20} 6. ARE THEY ABLE TO APPLY SKILLS LEARNED IN COMP TO THE WORKPLACE What questions will help you get that information? 1. DO YOU REQUIRE THEIR WORKERS TO GIVE ORAL REPORTS if they are required to, then i think that they would like them to have some sort of speech {#17} and i dont think thtat you can write an effective paper if you haven't taken comp 1 and 2 {#18} #18--but are academic essays what employers want you to be able to write? {#25} not neccessarily acedemic, just the structure you learn in classes {#28} 2. ON A SCALE FROM 1 TO 10 (10 BEING VERY IMPORTANT) WHAT ROLE DOES ENGLISH PLAY IN YOUR PROFESSION see my other comment about asking about "english". for most people it'e either the spoken language--which most would say is very important, i'm guessing, or literature. Ask about very specific skills, or ask: which of the following skills are important in your workplace: writing reports writing memos and internal communication writing academic essays writing grants etc {#24} 3.
