Art glass window by Marion Mahony Griffin

Peer Editing:

  1. Have another group member read your paper aloud to your group.
  2. Listen for the places the reader has trouble and mark those with a small check or dot to look at later, unless the reader sees an immediate problem.
  3. If the reader thinks s/he sees a problem, consult with the group and the author before making changes so that everyone agrees you should make that change. If you do not agree, consult a handbook. (If you need help using your handbook, be sure to ask!)
  4. Now go back and look at the place where the reader had trouble. Is there a confusing word order, a misspelling, a punctuation problem?
  5. After all the papers have been read and gone through as a group, exchange papers. Have at least one peer read through your paper, consulting with you about potential problems.
  6. Correct typos and mistakes neatly with a pen or pencil.
