In/out of Class Assignment:


1) Go to our class web site.

2) Find the calendar.

3) Print the three worksheets on the calendar for today and the article for next class.

4) Go to the library web page: http://www.lib.ndsu.nodak.edu/

When you leave class today, you will have a list of sources and AT LEAST 3 articles to read (2 plus the one you printed off for next class). You'll need to be finding articles for your summaries. These will help you write your papers.

5) Use search term worksheets to look for sources in the databases below.

Look for the following terms in as many of the data-bases as you can:

Writing Across the Curriculum

Writing in the Disciplines

First Year Writing

Writing Programs

Writing Program Administration

Learning Teams

Learning Communities

6) Locate all of the following on the library's main web site.

Library Search:

Web Pals

Infotrac (English)

Ebsco (Education/Humanities)

E-Journals

E-books

First Search

Gale Net

Project Muse

7) On-line search:

Try two search engines, Google + one other.

Fill in the search term worksheet.

8) Then,

Use the other two worksheets to write down articles that look particularly promising. Be sure to write down all the necessary info to fill in all columns you can.

Now,

Either in class or after, print off at least three articles or hit the library and Xerox at least three articles. (These may come from university web sites).

Thursday,

Bring three articles to class. (DON'T FORGET!!!!!)
