i was born in phoenix, arizona. around the age of five my family moved to
victorville, california
where i spent my formative years. i attended high school at victor valley high school. after
high school i moved to the portland, oregon area where i worked first at
Portland International Airport
followed by circuit city. i began attending new mexico tech (more formally the new mexico institute of mining and technology) in january of 1996. i majored in mathematics with an unofficial minor in geology. i enjoyed my time at tech. i even took courses in oil painting and fencing. i graduated in may of 1999 with a bachelor's degree, and in the fall began graduate school at the university of nebraska, lincoln. I earned my masters in mathematics from the department of mathematics and finished my Ph.D. dissertation under the direction of David Pitts in the summer of 2004. in the fall of 2004 i began a one year position as a visiting assistant professor in the mathematics department of the north dakota state university in fargo. in the spring i was hired as a tenure track assistant professor here in fargo. my nonmathematical interests include: constitutional law, both national and local; lutheran theology, with affiliated seminaries at Concordia Theological Seminary and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis; sports, in particular hockey, and the Toronto Blue Jays; my family; and music. if i could have any job in the world (beside the one i have right now) it would be either air traffic controller (i don't see well enough), supreme court justice (i don't have a law degree, yet), or owner of an NHL franchise (i don't have enough money). |
