NAAB Accreditation Review: March 25-29, 2006
A visiting team from the National Architectural Accrediting Board visited NDSU's Architecture Program to review it for accreditation March 25-29. Visiting team members were C. James Lawler, FAIA, Architect, Team Chair (representing the AIA), Elliott E. Dudnik, Ph.D., Professor of Architecture (representing the ACSA), Michael J. Miranda, Architecture Student (representing the AIAS) and Jeffrey Morgan, AIA, Architect (representing the NCARB). The visiting team held an exit meeting with the students and faculty at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, March 29 in the Century Theater of the Memorial Union on the NDSU main campus. The exit meeting was also attended by President Joseph Chapman, Provost Craig Schnell and the Dean of the College of Engineering and Architecture, Gary Smith.
NDSU Signs Memorandum Of Understanding for Collaboration with Anna University in Chennai, India
NDSU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding for collaboration with Anna University in Chennai, India. Initially a collaboration is planned between the School of Architecture and Planning of Anna University and the Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at NDSU. The objectives of this linkage are to develop long-term cooperative activities. The activities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Share knowledge.
- Develop collaborative research and education programs.
- Develop exchange and professional development programs for students, staff and faculty.
- Conduct seminars and workshops.
- Cultural exchange through mutual assistance in the areas of education and research.
- Share new technologies and new methods of management through extension and other programs.
- Seek funding opportunities for joint activities which provide mutual benefit to each institution's teaching, research and outreach programs.
Professor
Ravindra Deshmukh on NDSU Campus as a Fulbright Scholar
Prof.
Ravindra Deshmukh, Dean, Faculty of Architecture, Manipal Institute
of Technology, has been awarded a Fulbright Fellowship for 2005-2006
to visit NDSU. Professor Deshmukh has 30 years of experience in teaching
and professional practice. He graduated from the University of Roorkee
in India. He served as an architect at Hardwar and Hyderabad with the
Planning Corps of the Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited Company. He took
up a teaching assignment at the University of Ife in Nigeria and thereafter
continued teaching at the Manipal Institute of Technology since 1987.
Also, he traveled to Chile in 1998 for a two month assignment with the
Facultdad de Arquitectura Y Urbanismo at theUniversity of Chile.
Prof. Deshmukh will
work closely with the Department of Architecture and Landscape Architecture
at NDSU. He has a unique expertise in architecture as well as in disaster
management. He will also be teaming up with the active emergency management
program at NDSU. During his tenure Professor Deshmukh will teach a third
year design studio in architecture. He will also give lectures on socio-cultural
issues in India. During his stay in the US, he also plans to visit some
schools as well as community colleges to interact with faculty and students.

Another academic year is under way. Fall semester classes have begun. Classes have also started at the NDSU Downtown campus. The dedication ceremony for NDSU Downtown was held on Friday, September 17, 2004. A number of diginitaries, guests, faculty members and students attended the gala celebration.
