Instructions: Write a 1 to 2 page executive summary paper to answer the question below. This is an individual assignment. Grading will be based on thoughtfulness and thoroughness. Submit the paper electronically via email and hard copy in class on the due date.
A company currently has a telephone system and a separate system of local area networks. It is thinking about converting its telephone system to VoIP and running both voice and data over the system of local area networks. What must the company consider before making this move?
Suggestions: The paper should be between 1 and 2 pages long. Assume it may be read by executives who are not familiar with what VoIP is so you will need to define the technology. Uses references appropriately – one reference you should use is the text book cited below (especially pages 357-359). Do not simply copy and paste material from the web. Summarize your findings. Some questions I will ask when grading your paper are:
n Is the writing grammatically correct and appropriate for an executive summary?
n Was the technology described appropriately for a broad audience?
n Were technical issues, both pro and con, addressed?
n Was a recommendation made and backed by the evidence given in the paper.
