For your first spreadsheet assignment, you are to complete Tutorial 10, Case Problem 4 – NewGen Robotics in Excel. This case will be handed out in class on Monday, 09/24.
You can complete this case in either Excel 2003 or Excel 2007.
You files should be named following the convention used in the last assignment:
e.g. ss1-LatimerJB-jan.xlsx.
Of course your files will not have my name in them.
In order to save paper you are NOT required to generate any printed output for this assignment. You will only be turning the files associated with your spreadsheet.
You will be turning in a zipped archive of your workbook and any associated files. To create this archive, do the following:
- create a directory named for the assignment using the standard naming conventions (e.g. if I were turning in the assignment I would name the directory ss1-LatimerJB)
- copy all of the files associated with the assignment into the directory
- use the Windows “Send To” utility to create a zipped archive of the directory and its contents
We are using the draft pages of the Level III tutorials from the book “New Perspectives on Microsoft Excel 2007” for this part of the course. You can purchase your copies of these tutorials at the Memorial Union Copy Shop. For all of the spreadsheet assignments you will need Excel Tutorials 9, 10 & 11. These three tutorials are now available at the Memorial Union Copy Shop and total approximately 150 pages. Duplex (2-sided) copies are 12-cents per page so your cost should be about $9.00 (You can anticipate about the same cost for the Access Tutorials a little later in the semester).
Notes:
· The draft pages are black & white.
· I did not include some end of chapter pages to keep the cost down.
· The bookstore will not buy back these copies at the end of the semester.
Note: If you have the Office 2003 version of the text you will need to ask me for a copy of this assignment. The cases in the Office 2003 version of the text are different.
It is expected that you will have completed Tutorials 9 & 10 before you begin working on this assignment. For this assignment you are required to create and save any needed scenarios, scenario summary reports, one and two variable data tables, and solver models using the techniques as described in the tutorials.
The class variance on spreadsheet skills should not be very high. While this is a group project you can help individual in other groups with questions and suggestions. Each group is required to create an original workbook. If, while completing the assignment, you corrupt or lose your workbook file you are expected to recreate the entire assignment. You are not allowed to copy any part of a workbook file created by another group.

-
Minimum group
size is one (1) member.
