  The North Dakota Family Caregiver Project:


North Dakota State University received Older Americans Act funds from the Department of Human Services, Aging Services Division, to develop the North Dakota Family Caregiver Project. The purpose of the project is to develop training and educational materials to be used to provide support services to informal caregivers through the North Dakota Family Caregiver Support Program. Through education and proper support we want your caregiving experience to be successful. Let us help you make a difference in someone's life.

Our Staff

Marlys Bratteli, Ph.D., Director
Marly is an Assistant Professor at North Dakota State University. Her dissertation research was on relocation trauma in the institutionalized elderly. She has a Master's of Social Work and trained in the Minnesota Area Geriatric Education Centers 1999 Fellowship Program and the Geriatric Fellows Program 1988-89 at the Dakota Plains Geriatric Education Center. She formerly served as the Director of Training and Technical Assistance, National Resource Center on Native American Aging at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota and the Executive Director of the Resource Center on Gerontology at the University of North Dakota.

Greg Sanders, Ph.D., Associate Dean
Greg is a Professor of Child Development and Family Science at North Dakota State University and the Associate Dean of the College of Human Development and Education. On the faculty since 1982, he has published research on families in later life focusing especially on caregiving, family relationships, support of the elderly, and centenarians. He co-authored "Aging North Dakota: A profile of older adults" with Marlys Bratteli in 1994. Dr. Sanders received his Ph.D. in Family Studies and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Georgia.
