Identification: Rfw 15.6 mm, fw stigma with separate silver spot,
median area with red-brown-brassy patch beyond stigma, fringe dark, hw mostly dark.
Hw with vein CuA1 slightly separate from M2 and M3
at origin. Ptagiae red-brown. Meta-tibiae without spiniform setae.
Similar species: 8887, 8890,
Distribution: central Canada to south temperate United States, east
of the Rockies.
Hosts: Larvae have been recorded on a wide variety of plants
including: bean, cabbage, dandelion, hollyhock, lamb's quarters, lettuce,
parsnip, plantain, sunflower and thistle.
