Identification: Rfw 18.8 mm, fw wood brown, with longitudinal
streak along cubital vein and extending to outer margin; tegula with an
elongate scale tuft which is everted at rest forming a ‘cowl.’ See Cucullia

Distribution: temperate eastern U. S. and southern Canada, west
to Saskatchewan in the north.
Hosts: Aster– Asters and Solidago– goldenrods,
larvae in later instars feed on flowers.
