Downloading and Installing R on a Windows Machine (as of 08-18-08)

1. Go to the URL...
     http://cran.r-project.org/

2. Click on the link that says...
     Windows

3. Click on the link that says...
     base

4. Click on the R-2.7.1-win32.exe link and save it to
   your desktop.

5. Double click on the R-2.7.1-win32.exe icon and follow
   the installation instructions to install R.

   Note: The default installation settings should
   be adequte.  The only exception is you may want
   to install the Reference Manual when asked for it. 

   Note: It is a good idea to scan the installation
   directory (e.g. C:\Program Files\R\R-2.7.1) for 
   viruses before you begin using R.
