Text: Introduction to Probability and Statistics (13th edition) by William Mendenhall, Robert Beaver, and Barbara Beaver (ISBN-10:  0-495-38953-6, ISBN-13:  978-0-495-38953-8).
Course Description: Data description, probability, inference on means, proportions, differences of means and proportions, categorical data, regression, analysis of variance, and multiple comparisons.
Course Objective: To introduce students to classical parametric inferential statistical techniques and probability distributions so that they may be able to identify and apply these methods to real-life data and/or situations.
Homework: Homework problems from the text book, and possibly other sources, will be assigned, collected, and graded at various times throughout the semester.
Exams: There will be three exams during the semester. These tests are tentatively scheduled for 9/25, 11/06, and 12/17.  You will be allowed one 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper with anything you wish to put on it for each exam.
Final Exam: The final exam is exam #3 and will be given on Wednesday, December 17 from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.  This exam is not comprehensive.

Pre/Post-due-date coursework (i.e. homework and tests) will be allowed at the discretion of the instructor assuming the student provides the instructor with a legitimate excuse.  Pre-due-date coursework will be graded "as is" with no penalty.  However, the following grade will be given for all types of post-due-date coursework: 
post-due-date-grade = minimum{your score, 33rd percentile of the class}.
Grading Policy: Homework - 25%, Exam #1 - 25%, Exam #2 - 25%, Exam #3 - 25%
Grading Scale: The following scale is guaranteed.
A [90, 100], B [80, 90), C [70, 80), D [60, 70), F [ 0, 60)
