Below is an example for calculating the final grade. See the syllabus for details and the grading scale.
HW Grades: 20, 18, 25, 20, 26, 0, 25, 19,
27,
15
HW Possible: 20, 30, 30, 35, 30, 30, 35, 25, 40, 25
Test Grades: 36, 48, 45
Test Possible: 50, 50, 50
The overall HW percentage is essentially calculated as the average
of individual HW percentages. In the above example we have
[(20/20)+(18/30)+...+(15/25)]/10=0.662. The test percentages
are 36/50=0.72, 48/50=0.96, and 45/50=0.90. Thus, the
final
"class percentage" is 0.25(0.662) + 0.25(0.72) + 0.25(0.96) +
0.25(0.90) = 0.811, which is a B.
