Below is an example for calculating the final grade. See the syllabus for details and the grading scale.
HW Grades: 20, 18, 25, 20, 26, 0, 25, 19,
27,
15, 18, 29
HW Possible: 20, 20, 30, 30, 30, 10, 30, 20, 30, 30, 20,
30
Test Grades: 36, 48, 45, 40
Test Possible: 50, 50, 50, 50
The overall HW percentage is essentially calculated as the average of
individual HW percentages. In the above example we have
[(20/20)+(18/20)+...+(29/30)]/12=0.776. The test percentages
are 36/50=0.72, 48/50=0.96, 45/50=0.90, and 40/50=0.80. Thus, the
final
"class percentage" is 0.2(0.776) + 0.2(0.72) + 0.2(0.96) + 0.2(0.90) +
0.2(0.80) = 0.831, which is a B.
